Robber Fly on my hand

Thanks to Steven Rotsch, the Gov's photographer for the leg work on nailing down the true identity on this small predator.

Imagesmith said...: I shot it as a vertical & the lower portion was about 1/5 cropped.......more of my hairy hand. I stunned the beast with a can of dust-off turned upside down sprayed into a film cannister. Got my 55micro with 3 step rings & a reverse ring (screws onto the front of the lens where the filter would typically be). Scotch taped my ring flash to the reversed lens & stopped down to f22 & set the flash on 16. I shot about 20 frames on my hand & 20 frames on a white seamless. 8.5x11 sheet of paper.; 9:50 PM EDT
