He's a regular in my back yard, but eh/she is pretty sneaky. I know when its out there because all the birds fly away as if a bomb has gone off. I have a picture posted from last easter http://tomhindman.blogspot.com/search?q=augury
of it taking out a dove in mid flight that was released at the cemetery. I learned 2 things that day. A Cooper's Hawk will take its catch to water, sit on it to drown it. (I watched as it did this) And a dove's only defense is a release of it's feathers in an explosive fashion in an attempt to confuse it's attacker.

Very cool! (But, please, no photos of him eating HIS breakfast! Hee hee!)
Very cool shot.
Diane was right -- this is a very unusal hawk. Never seen one, so thanks for the picture. I wouldn't want to see him eating his breakfast either.
