That's funny because I thought the same them when I stepped out of the car. Crows were screeching & the air smelled of lilacs & there to the right was a guy fishing. He asked me if it was dead.
And to add to this his wife, & I assume it was his wife, was sitting in a wheelchair in the parking lot. I nodded my head to her & went back to shooting the deer & when I asked where I was she was sitting in the van & the wheelchair was sill in the gravel parking lot. That gave me the willies.
Man... if I get some time, maybe I can work up a short story. Can't promise anything, but then again, if work keeps heading the way it is, I may soon have tons of free time!

Rode up past Pine Flat Dam today, and immediately thought of this pic. It reminds me of something that you'd see on a Stephen King cover.

Your description of the setting even sounds like a King story! Morbid as it may sound, I like this pic. Even more, knowing what was going on around...
