I shot this shortly before stepping on a yellow jackets nest while getting into the car. I took several for a short ride before jumping out and getting stung again. Damn they just don't hurt for a few minutes. I put ammonia on the bites immediately but right now which is 8 hrs later my ear & arm are like in fire.
Wow! That's pretty awesome!
The birds, that is. Not the yellow jackets...
It's hummingbird week! I stepped on a yellowjacket nest in the woods a couple of months ago and I had a pretty nasty reaction. Good luck with that.
What an energetic picture. I've never seen so many at once. What shutter speed did you use? Those wings are frozen still.
Holly cow! How wonderful!
So... I'm confused. Are you saying that those things are yellow jackets? Or are they humming birds? And why is the feeder hung under that table? Maybe they are cross-breeds. You know a hummingjacket. That way they could look like hummingbirds but still sting you.
I had to go back & take a look at the exif data, it was shot at 12:03pm, with a Nikon D2HS, no gps, spot meter, flash function present, no strobe return detection, flash did not fire, f/4.0, shutter set 1600, ISO 200, focal length 600mm (this translates into about a 900mm with digital), & color space RGB, JPEG, size 1,307,357 bytes. More info than you or me want to know. Yea it reminds me of yellow jackets swarming around me.
AMAZING!!!
